Recommended Best Brake Controller For a 2007 Ford Expedition With Factory Tow Package
Question:
Hello. I have a 2007 Ford Expedition with tow package. My travel trailer has electric brakes. The Ford does not have a brake controller installed. Does this mean that there is no signal to the trailer when hooked up and therefore the electric brakes are not engaging. I think the answer is I have been towing without the benefit of the trailer brakes engaging. I bought the trailer used from private party. Just want to make sure before I buy your set up for the Ford. Thanks

You are correct that without a brake controller on your 2007 Ford Expedition that there is no braking force being applied to the brakes of your travel trailer.
I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 for your Expedition as it is proportional and has diagnostic features should there be any issues with the trailer brakes. A proportional controller has an internal inertia sensor that senses how hard your tow vehicle is trying to stop and adjusts the braking output that is sent to the trailer to match that. This is much better than a timed brake controller as it always stops with the same braking force no matter how quickly you are trying to stop.
A Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3035-P will connect to the factory connector located under the dash making the installation plug and play. I have linked an installation video below that will help you through the installation process.
