For towing a trailer on your 2022 Hyundai Sante Fe, the first thing you need is a trailer hitch installed on the vehicle. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit # C34ER because it will give your vehicle a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 4,000 pounds at a competitive price. However, I recommend that you consult with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure that you don't exceed the tow rating of your Sante Fe. If you need assistance with installation, the attached video of the Curt hitch installed on the 2021 Kia Sorrento will be nearly identical with your installation. You will also need a hitch pin which is part # PC3. If you need a ball mount, I recommend the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 2" Rise, 4" Drop # C93KR.
You will also need wiring. If you need just brake lights/signal lights alone, you will only need the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # CU94FR. The T-Connector includes a powered converter to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer. If you are looking to add a brake controller to the trailer, you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7 in addition to the T-One.
Finally, you need a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 or the Curt Echo # C51180. Both of these controllers are proportional controllers which means that the controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. The Voyager is more of a traditional-style controller than requires mounting into the dashboard of your vehicle near the steering wheel. On the other hand, the Curt Echo allows you to control the settings of your controller with the ease of your Smart device.
If you need help installing any of these accessories, I went ahead and linked walk-through videos to guide you through the process.
