Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2022 Honda Pilot That Is Compatible With Full Size Spare Tire
Question:
I am looking for a trailer hitch receiver for towing a trailer with my 2022 Honda Pilot, but want one that allows me to keep a full sized spare tire. What option do I have?

For your 2022 Honda Pilot all of the available trailer hitch receivers will work with spare wheels up to 18" in diameter, so as long as you do not have a 20" spare wheel then you will have no problems reinstalling your spare.
On the off chance that you have a 20" spare wheel then you will need to go to your local Honda dealer and pick up an 18" spare wheel and tire.
Between the two available hitches for your Pilot I recommend going with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98840 due to its matte black powder coat finish helping it better blend in to the plastic trim on your vehicle. This hitch has a 900lb tongue weight rating and 6,000lb trailer weight rating making it a perfect choice for towing a trailer. You will however want to check the owner's manual of your vehicle to confirm its towing capacity and use the lower rating between the hitch and vehicle.
Keep in mind that if your Pilot has the hands free lift gate sensor you will need to pick up the relocation kit from your local Honda dealer as well.
To complete your towing setup you will also need a vehicle wiring harness # 118760 if your trailer has a 4-way connector, or the # 118286 if your trailer has a 7-way connector, and a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip which can all be found in the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900.
I included videos of the products mentioend for you to take a look at.
