Is The B&W Companion Slider or Fixed 5th Wheel Hitch Needed For 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 W/ Short Bed?
Question:
I have a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 with the OEM puck system and am looking at the B&W companion 5th wheel hitches. I have a short bed so do I need the slider hitch or can I still use the fixed hitch?

Since your 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 has the short bed you will more than likely want to go with the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3775 which is designed to fit directly into the OEM towing prep package you have in your truck.
The reason I say more than likely is while a slider is recommended for trucks with a bed less that 8' long as this particular sliding hitch gives 12" of rearward travel for additional cab to trailer clearance, if your trailer has a rotating pin box then you would want to go with a fixed hitch.
The fixed hitch would be the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3710 which has a 20,000lb capacity and 5,000lb pin weight rating which is perfect for most of the 5th wheel trailers on the market. If your trailer has a rotating pin box you will also need the wedge # SWW-06.
Now if your trailer has a tapered nose you may be able to get away with a fixed hitch instead of a slider, but you will not have a full 90 degree turning clearance which can be OK if you take the truck and trailer to an empty parking lot with a friend so you can get comfortable with how sharp you can turn, but this is just asking for trouble with cab to trailer interference.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
