Can the Spring Perches or Spring Seats Be Relocated on a Dexter 7000-lbs Axle
Question:
Are there any issues relocating the spring perches? My current springs are centered at 78 3/4inches. The present axle is too light plus i want electric brakes

There aren't any issues with relocating the spring perches on the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 7,000 lbs # 8327834 from 80" apart down to 78-3/4"; there are limits to how far you can move the spring perches away from the hub face, but this 1-1/4" total is well within those limits and won't create issues that would otherwise lower the capacity of the axle. You'll need to cut off the old perches and replace them with the Spring Seat for Typical 5,200-lb to 7,200-lb, Round Trailer Axles with 3" Diameter # TRSS300, which will require work from a certified welder.
The bearings used on the spindle of the # 8327834 are inner bearing # 25580 and outer bearing # 14125A, so you'll need a hub and drum assembly that also uses those bearings; something like the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 7K lb E-Z Lube Axle - 12" - 8 on 6-1/2 - 1/2" Studs # 42866UC3-EZ would work well if you need an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern for your wheels.
Since you're wanting electric brakes you'll need a 12" brake assembly like the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 7K # 23-464-465, which are a self adjusting brake that mount to the 5 bolt flange on the Dexter # 8327834. These brakes don't come with any brake mounting hardware, so you'll also need the # BRKH12
I've linked some review and installation videos of these parts for you to check out as well.
