Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2012 Ford F250 w/ Factory Fifth Wheel Prep Kit

Question:

Hello Will the Reese 5th wheel hitch, Reese part # 30921 fit my 2012 Ford F250 with the 6.8 foot bed with the Ford Factory Prep Kit. I spoke with Reese Factory parts store and they thought it would be a in fit but that the hitch part # 30144 mite be better, depending on Trailer being pulled. I am looking at a Forest River V-cross trailer that has the tapered front that is only about 16inch wide sloping back at about 45 degree angle so has some room as the front outer edges corners are located back from the leading front center by several feet, with the outer corners being behind the front 16inch center area. Will the 30921 be A direct in fit for the Ford Prep kit, the truck came with. Thanks

Because your F250 is not a long bed model, I would highly recommend you go with the Reese Elite Series w/ Slider, part # RP30144. Although the current trailer you are looking at has a v-type nose on it that might work okay with the # RP30921 and have proper clearance for making turns, having the sliding hitch would allow you more flexibility in the event you switched to a different fifth wheel in the future.

Both the Reese Elite Series w/ Slider # RP30144 and the non-sliding model, part # RP30921 are compatible with the Ford Factory Fifth Wheel Prep Kit.

An adapter, part # RP30156 is available that would allow any fifth wheel hitch up to a 20,000 lb capacity that uses industry standard mounting rails to fit into the puck system.
