How to Carry Spare Tire on Roof of 2014 Mazda CX-5

Question:

How can I carry a spare tire for my 2014 Mazda CX-5 SUV either on the roof or in front? I cannot find a front mounted hitch for it.

Typically we only see front mount hitch receivers for bigger trucks or vehicles that are known for going off-road like a Jeep. To carry your spare tire in an alternate location on your 2014 Mazda CX-5 we will need to look to the roof.

I recommend using the Yakima OffGrid # Y07138 and the Spare Tire Carrier # Y07076 to accomplish this. The OffGrid has a really sleek look and it's really easy to install. The crossbars on top can double as roof rack bars for a bike or kayak carrier if you need one in the future, or they can be removed for larger loads like your spare.

For a roof rack you can use the following depending on if you have the naked roof or the factory crossbars:

Naked Roof:
Inno 54" Aero-Style Crossbars - # INXB138-2
Through Feet - # INXS250
Fit Kit - # INK758

Raised Rails:
Inno Aero-Style Crossbars - # INXB123-130
Through Feet - # INXS150

I really like the Inno roof products because they are a great balance of quality and price, plus they look really nice as well. This setup gives you everything you need to be able to carry a spare tire on your 2014 CX-5.
