Is Drilling Required to Install the Curt Hitch # 14001 on a 2002 Dodge Ram Short Bed
Question:
Will the width on the Part # 14001 be correct to fit the frame rail on our 2002 Dodge Ram SLt short bed. 2. Will be have to drill holes in the frame rail? We have two holes but it doesnt appear that they go all the way through the frame rail. 3..Will we have to take off the exhaust pipe to install? 4. Can we remount the tire after installation of the hitch.

If your 2002 Dodge Ram with a short bed is a 2500 or a 3500 then yes, the Curt Hitch # 14001 is a confirmed fit for it and will be the correct width.
You will need to drill two 1/2 inch holes in the frame to install this hitch. You will use the hitch as a template for the drilling so it should not be too difficult.
You might have to reposition the rear bumper upward to get the hitch to install, but you should not have to remove the exhaust.
You would be able to keep your spare as long as it is the standard size spare.
