Longest Hitch Extender that Can Fit Hitch of 2016 Ram 1500

Question:

Howdy! 2016 Laramie Ram 1500 EcoDiesel/8speed short bed 5’7” Carrying a truck camper with 6”6’ footprint, so, tailgate will be open. To simultaneously tow the travel trailer, a19ft Starcraft Mossy Oak, TW appx 370lb, I’m going to have to use an extended drawbar, appx 2ft longer than a normal stem. It seems that this leverage would effectively exceed the factory hitch’s capacity appx 500lb Recommendation for a safe setup?

For 2 inch hitches that fit your 2016 Ram 1500 like the # 41948 the longest option we have is 18 inches part # HE18. We don't have any longer options so hopefully that would be long enough. This will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent due to leverage and additional movement.
