Expert Reply:
The colors of wires for hooking up a trailer to a vehicle vary among years and models, so the best way to verify the function of each wire is with a circuit tester like # PTW2992. Have someone run through the light functions in the truck while you use the tester on each wire to determine what each wire is linked to. Then you can trace the wiring on your trailer to verify that each wire is getting attached to the correct wire on your truck.
If you just have 7 bare wires and need a replacement 7 way outlet on your truck then you can use 7-Way Super Sealed Connector w/4' Cable - Car End # 50-87-004 with Mounting Bracket for 7-Way # 18138. Once you determine the function of each wire, you can follow the attached wiring diagram and connect each wire to the appropriate terminal on this plug.
If you need to also rewire your trailer's 7 way plug, then I would go with Hopkins 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector - 11' Long # HM20048. Just verify the function of each wire then hook them up to this harness accordingly.
