What Size Solar Power System Is Needed To Go Off Grid
Question:
Was just wondering if the 200w system would have enough charging power so I could run my RV fridge which has DC converter, and water pump if we are off grid a few days? New to the solar option, and trying to see what would have to be sacrificed. A light here and there at night, Water pump.....ffridge? Thanks in advance.

To know what size solar power system you'll need to go off grid you'll have to add up the amperage draw for each appliance you'll be using for a day and choose the system that will match that draw to recharge your batteries with.
The Go Power Portable Solar Panel with Digital Solar Controller - 200 Watt Solar Panel # 34282610 is going to have an output of 67.42ah per day in peak conditions. A typical RV fridge will run on 2-4amps an hour, but this is highly dependent on a number of factors like how hot the camper is. The best way to determine how many amps you'll use in a day is to try out being off grid when you're at a site with hookups as a backup or if space allows at your home for a day to see just how much you're drawing from the battery. Typically campers who go off grid or "boondock" have at least a 2-4 battery bank to ensure they can make it through their trip with a little extra incase of inclement weather which would cut down on your available charging time.
I've attached some of our solar power help articles to provide you with more information so you can plan your off-grid trip accordingly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
