Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Triggering Viper Alarm 2011 GMC Sierra

Question:

i purchased the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller. as soon as i pluged it into the port on my 2011 gmc seirra the viper security system purchased with the truck goes off and uncontrollable. I am figuring thhis has some thing to do with the brake on off switch. its the only thing i can think of that the two devices share besides 12v power. has qnyone else had this problem?

It sounds like you could have wired the brake controller to the wrong circuit. Make sure you have power entering the brake controller on the black wire. On the red wire you will only want power when the brake pedal is pressed. If there is power on the red wire before the brake pedal is depressed you have wired it to the wrong circuit.
