Part # P315 probably would not work with your hitch. My information shows that the only available hitches for your 2008 Kia Optima are Class I hitches and P139 is for Class II only.

We do have another adapter that will work for a Class I hitch. It is part # HTAD and it will allow your Class I 1-1/4 hitch to accept 2 inch accessories. You will need part # PC2 to hold the adapter into your hitch, and if you do not already have one, part # PC3 to hold your bike rack to the adapter.

Please note, when using this adapter, the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle or hitch, whichever is lower, is reduced by 50 percent. The Class I hitches we have available for your vehicle have a 200 pound tongue weight rating. Using this adapter would reduce it to 100 pounds. The bike rack and bikes on it must weigh less than 100 pounds. Your bike rack weighs about 30 pounds, so you could not put more than 70 pounds worth of bikes on it.

If your vehicle tongue weight rating is than 200, then you will need to re-calculate according to the formula I described above.

I have a Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Black Item # S44FR; however without the shank (rack originally purchased with Vistabule teardrop trailer mounted to teardrop frame). I want to use the bike rack directly installed on vehicle - would the P315 Conversion Bar for Swagman XP Bike Racks work to use as a replacement shank? What is the distance between the two holes where the rack attaches (I need 2 1/2 inches).

The # P315 won't work for your Dispatch but the Replacement Shank # SP474 will.
