Trailer Stop and Turn Signals Stop Working On 2012 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Installed Curt 56378 in 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L and lights worked fine for 3 separate trips over 3 years. Tried hooking up to my trailer to validate newly installed trailer LEDs worked....van no longer offers brake lights/turn signals. Running lights work, but brake lights/turn signals flicker on for less than a quarter second and turn off. Verified trailer was not culprit by connecting to a different vehicle, lights all checked out. Used Multimeter to validate voltage at 4-pole plug, and ground: running lights 11v, brake lights 3.4v LT/RT show 4.3v when respective turn signal is turned on, LT/RT to 300mv when brakes are applied. Validated voltage in fuse box. Fuses all check out. Whats the next thing to check? How do you validate the controller is doing things correctly?

It sounds like the converter is defective on the wiring harness. Unfortunately, this means the entire wiring harness will need to be replaced. The converters can fail over time on their own but the most common failure is caused by the converter not being secured enough and the wires inside coming loose from the circuit board. For replacement, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118521 which we have found to be more reliable than other manufactures.
