Can Curt C18220 Cargo Bag Be Used on Vehicle Roof

Question:

This bag would be a perfect fit for my hitch-mounted cargo carrier, but I was wondering if it could be strapped to the roof as well. I have a 2007 Toyota Sienna LE with roof rails and adjustable crossbars. Is there any reason that I couldnt strap this bag to that also? Or maybe on a roof basket? The extra versatility would be very nice. Thanks!

There's no reason at all why you couldn't use the Curt # C18220 cargo bag on the roof of your Sienna. The multiple straps allow plenty of tie-down points, so the bag would work very well in either application.

Since you have both side rails and crossbars, you'll have plenty of places to attach the straps so a cargo basket wouldn't be necessary, but you could certainly use one if you wish. If you wanted to go that route, a basket like the Rhino-Rack # RMCB would be a great mid-priced choice that won't break the bank.

If you decide to go without a basket, you might consider using a mat like # RL100650 which would prevent the bag from moving around on the roof and potentially scratching the vehicle. You'll also want to make sure the surfaces of the bag and the roof that touch are perfectly clean and free of grit.

Finally, you might also be interested in a door step like # RL100660 would provide easier access to items stored on the roof.
