Hitch Ball Height of Stealth SH87FR Hitch Installed on 2019 Volvo XC90

Question:

I own a 2021 Volvo XC60 and need to tow a small camper, about 2000 lbs. The trailer manufacturer says the top of the tow ball should be 24. Thats a big difference with the bottom of the XC60 bumper at 15inch I was thinking about the Stealth Invisible Hitch, but Im afraid it may be too low for the trailer. I dont think I can raise the ball height on the Steath. What do you think?

The receiver included with the Stealth # SH87FR hitch for the 2019 Volvo XC60 isn't meant for towing, it's meant for hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. In order to tow, you'll need the # SH87FRT hitch kit which includes the ball mount that's meant for towing which provides a 2 inch rise which will place the top of the trailer ball around 18 inches which wouldn't be sufficient to tow your trailer so it's level. Unfortunately, this height isn't adjustable.

I'd recommend going with the Hidden Hitch # DT82GR Class III hitch. The hitch is concealed when installed once the detachable receiver tube is removed.

The top inside edge of the receiver tube will sit at about 13-1/2 inches in height with the hitch installed. To have the trailer level, you'll want to choose a ball mount that will place the underside of the coupler (which is two inches lower than the top of the trailer ball) at about 22 inches. To achieve the correct height, you'll want a ball mount that provides about 9 inches of rise, part # AMSC10. For a trailer ball, use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.

You will also need a trailer wiring harness, I'd recommend the # 118773 from Tekonsha. I'll link to install videos for the hitch and wiring harness I recommended.
