Sway Control Recommendation For an Enclosed V-Nose Trailer.

Question:

Hello, Im interested in item# 83660 reese friction sway control kit. When towing my trailer Ive experienced trailer sway and would like to reduce it. I dont have a need for weight distribution as my truck does not sag its not a very heavy unit. My issue is, due to the height of my trailer how could I possibly install this item level? The ball on my hitch is quite a ways below the trailer frame as you can see from the picture. The trailer rides nice and level with my current setup.

I have a couple of routes that you can go to add sway control to your enclosed trailer.

First is the choice I recommend, the Tuson Electronic Sway Control System # 335TSC-1000. This system will connect to your trailer brakes. When it senses sway it will activate the trailers brakes to counteract the trailer sway. Best of all there is no extra parts that you will need to connect on the tongue of your trailer, or sway bars to remove every time you need to backup or drive on tight turning roads.

To use the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 you will need to adjust the height of the coupler on your trailer. This will be easy as you have an adjustable coupler. To compensate for moving the coupler up on the trailer you will need to change your ball mount. Your new ball mount will depend on how far the coupler on your trailer moves up on the adjustable rail and how much drop or rise your current ball mount has. If you need help with the correct ball mount please let me know and I can help you when you have those measurements.

To the new ball mount you can attach the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003. This will give you the mounting point for the 2nd ball that holds the sway bar on the hitch.
