Weight Distribution Hitch for 21ft travel trailer
Question:
Hi! Ive got a 2005 F150 FX4 with the 5.2l V8 - GVWR 6700lbs I just got a 21ft travel trailer with dry weight 4449lbs, and 552lb hitch weight. I pulled it about 45miles from the dealer to home, and didnt have any issues with sway. It was also a calm day with very little wind. Is a weight distribution hitch recommended for this set up?

Yes, I highly recommend a weight distribution hitch for your new trailer. With the information you have provided I recommend purchasing the Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System item # C24UR. Your trailer fully loaded will give you a tongue weight between 700lbs and 800lbs. This weight distribution system will give you a max tongue weight of 1k lbs and a maximum gross towing weight of 10K lbs. This hitch system will evenly distribute the weight over the axles of your F-150 and trailer for stability and control. This creates a more level ride and will prevent sway on days that aren't calm. I have also included a couple links about weight distribution systems.
