Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation For 1996 GMC K2500 With Truck Camper

Question:

I have a 1996 gmc 2500 4x4 extended cab with a heavy 10’ overhead camper these helpers would have to be down tight under pressure all the time Pressure. Will They lift the back of truck up apx 1 1/2” to 2”. Also will i louse travel making a rough ride and making it hard on axles and other items. I can see the concept of these. But I’m afraid there would be too much pressure on them and the truck. Especially for continuous heavy weight and long trips and especially in back country Inn off road conditions I would appreciate your expert opinionAnd my truck does have a gooseneck hitch in the vehicle so air lifts don’t work. I may need to put a solid lift on the leaf springs to lift the truck thanks

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TGMRCK25 are the correct fitment for your 1996 GMC K2500 Pickup. These provide up to 6,000lbs of support to your suspension components. They may help to level your vehicle but as they are designed to only provide support when there is additional weight on your suspension. Without additional weight they typically have around 1" of clearance to the axle. You will not loose any suspension travel and the Timbrens will help to absorb road shock by giving you that cussion in the suspension.

I recommend using the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57216 as it will work with the gooseneck hitch in your GMC. To ensure correct fitment you must have at least 7-1/4" clearance from your frame rail to the axle jounce bumper plate when there is no weight on your suspension. The air bags will allow you to adjust the air pressure to give you the ride height and comfort that you are looking for.

The Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System # AL74000EZ will allow you to adjust the air pressure from either the wireless remote or your phone. This will make on the fly adjustments much easier. There is no need to monitor the air pressure while you drive as the smart compressor will maintain the pressure setting to within 3psi while in operation. You can also have different presets saved for your vehicle to make changing loads or terrain types easier.
