What Options do You Have for More Support for a Canoe Mounted on an Adarac Rack on a 2013 Silverado?

Question:

I have a 2013Silverado crew can with a 5.5foot bed with the Adarac Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack - Steel with Aluminum Crossbars - 500 lbs # A70510 system. I have a 16foot canoe that I carry on the rack but the canoe sags when the sun hits it and bounces on the roof of the cab. Do you have extensions that protrude over the cab somewhat to give the canoe added suport? Also do you have rollers that fit on the rack crossmembers so the canoe will roll into the rack?

I have a solution for you. Unfortunately, there is not an extension of the Adarac ladder rack # A70510 available. As far as having additional support of the bow of the canoe on your 2013 Silverado's cab, I recommend the Malone Foam Block for Canoes - 6" Long - Qty 1 # MPG160. The Foam Block will serve as a point to mount the bow down to the roof of your cab to make sure the kayak doesn't bump it during transport. In addition to the foam pad, you will need the Malone Hood Loops for Bow and Stern Tie-Downs - Qty 2 # MPG322, the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit # MPG306, and the Malone QuickLash T-Style Hood Loops for Bow and Stern Tie-Downs - Qty 2 # MPG308.

If you want an option for rollers that will attach on the square crossbars of the Adarac # A70510, I recommend the Yakima HandRoll Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - Roller Style - Rear Loading - Clamp On # Y04082-2. The HandRoll carrier includes padded, pivoting rollers that allow your canoe to be easily loaded from the rear of vehicle. For added security of the HandRoll, I recommend the Same-Key System Lock Cores # Y07202.
