Parts Needed To Install 7-way Connector And Tekonsha Prodigy P3 In 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

I have a 2017 hyundai santa fe. I installed a hitch and 4 pole wire harness,a couple years ago, now I want to install my prodigy brake control and a 7 pole rv plug. Can you tell me the part number for a controller plug for my vehicle and brake control? Ive been searching your site and found ETBC7 for between the controller and hitch is there a cheaper way so I need a cable to connect brake controller to cars electrical system. Thats where Im lost. Please recommend the cheapest option to install a controller and rv 7 pole plug. Thank you in advance.

Starting with the 7-way connector the # ETBC7 is the correct option for your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. This will plug into your existing 4-way connector and only require a few more connections. The black wire will get run to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, the white wire will get grounded to the frame of your vehicle, and the blue wire will get run underneath the dash of your vehicle where you are planning on installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.

If the trailer hitch receiver you installed on your Santa Fe does not have a built in bracket for mounting a 7-way connector you will also need no drill mounting bracket # 18140.

Now on your Santa Fe there is not a plug in wiring adapter to install the controller as your vehicle does not have a factory trailer brake controller port, so you will need to hard wire the adapter. The # ETBC7 includes all of the wiring and components needed to complete this install. You will need to make the following connections:

Black wire of controller harness to positive terminal of battery with 20 amp circuit breaker if the trailer you are towing has 1-2 braking axles, or 30 amp circuit breaker if the trailer you are towing has 3-4 braking axles.

White wire of controller harness to ground.

Blue wire of controller harness to the blue wire on the 7-way connector that you ran under the dash.

Red wire of controller harness gets connected to the cold side wire of the stop light switch. This wire only has power when the brake pedal is pressed, and you can easily find it using a circuit tester like # PTW2993..

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
