I recommend using the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # 495-3A for your 2006 Ford F-150. This fits all models with the exception being the STX, FX4 or Harley-Davidson models. With these mounts you will not need to use a crossbar and will be able to connect directly to the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422. The tow bars have a rating of 10,000 lbs and are non binding tow bars that make disconnecting your vehicle easier. Channels are added to the tow bars to protect the safety cables and wiring from dragging on the ground. They also help to keep everything organized and where it needs to be making hooking up and disconnecting easier.

A Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-048-6 or other adapter may be required based on the receiver height on your motorhome. It is important that the tow bars have no more than 3" of rise or drop from your motorhome to your F-150 or the bars will risk excess wear and damage.

The RoadMaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain Combo Towing Kit # RM-9243-3 contains the safety cables, wiring connections, storage bags and some lock to keep the F-150 Secured when you are traveling. To make the wiring for the tailights easier a Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56005 will connect to the factory taillight connector reducing any wire splicing that you need to do to the factory harness.

Depending on your motorhome you will want one of two braking systems.

The Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR is designed to work with motorhomes that have hydraulic brake. This proportional system is installed under the hood and dash of your F-150 and turn on with a flip of a switch inside the cab. It senses for brake light activation as well as the inertia of the motorhome braking before it activates the brakes in your F-150. This reduces any false braking from occurring because you are covering the brake pedal or coasting down a hill.

The Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # SM99243 is designed for motorhomes that have air brakes. This system also installs under the hood and dash of your F-150. There is also parts that will install on the motorhome. The brakes will use the air pressure from your motorhome to properly control the brakes on your F-150. This makes your brakes proportional as well as self activating. Once you connect the air line the system works with no switches or buttons to push.

Lastly I recommend installing a Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to ensure your battery on your F-150 stays charged while you are towing. The battery on your F-150 will provide power to the braking system and it is important that it stay charged when towing.
