Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2011 Lexus RX 350

Question:

Hi. I have a 2011 RX 350 Lexus AWD WITH the towing package. I already have a flat four pin connector plugged into the factory plug on the left rear of the vehicle. Works great. I am buying a trailer which has trailer brakes so I will be converting to a seven pin connector. I have watched several videos on your website and have a good idea how to do it. I will likely use a Tekonsha 90885 Brake Controller. Questions: 1. What else will I need? 2. Do you know if there is a quick connect option under my dash from the truck wiring to the controller or will I have to hard wire it in?

Since you already have a 4-Way flat trailer connector, you will just need a brake controller and the 4 and 7 Way installation kit # ETBC7. This provides the 7-Way and the wiring and accessories needed to hardwire in the brake controller. There is no plug-in type of harness available for the 2011 Lexus RX 350.

I have included some links that explain the installation of the ETBC7 for you.

The Tekonsha P2, # 90885, is an excellent choice and what I would recommend for you. It is easy to use and set up and is a reliable controller.
