Will Shank On Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch For GMC 1500 Truck Work On Chevy 2500 Truck?

Question:

Changing trucks, going from a GMC 1500 2WD, to a Chevy 2500 4WD. I have a Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control. currently using the stock shank that comes with the hitch. the new truck is on order, should be in within 2 to 3 weeks, so i dont have the exact height of the hitch on the truck. is it likely that i will need an extended shank to accommodate the new truck height, or will the stock shank be long enough?

Congratulations on your new truck!

Your new 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4WD will sit a bit higher than your older GMC Sierra 1500 2WD, so if you are currently using the hitch with it near the lowest possible drop, you will more than likely need to use a longer shank.

Either way I would wait to measure and try it before placing an order for a new one.

Also your new truck has a 2-1/2" receiver but includes a 2-1/2" to 2" adapter which you will need to use to keep using your current shank.

If you find your new truck is too high for your current Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank then I recommend going with the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17132 which will perfectly with your hitch, and will give you up to 10" of drop to get your trailer level, and has a 2-1/2" shank so you will not need to use a hitch reducer.

I included a video of the # C17132 for you to take a look at.
