If the jack is stuck in the fully extended or retracted position, it's likely that the jack has been over extended which jams the internal screw into the nut. When this occurs, the best bet would be to replace the jack.

The Fulton # FXP10 which offers a 1200 lb capacity and up to 12 inches of lift would be a fine replacement if the 12 inch lift is sufficient for your needs.

If your current jack is jammed in between full extension and retraction, it's possible that the bevel gears are damaged. If that's the case, we might have replacement gears.

If you could provide me with the part number of your jack, I can check on the availability of replacement parts, and determine how to replace the cap if possible.
