What Cargo Tie-Down Straps for Trailer Hauling a 1976 CJ5 with Off Road Tires
Question:
Hello, I am looking for a tied down solution. I have a 1976 CJ5 with 33-inch tires and I need to trailer the jeep in the photo about 100 miles on the freeway. Any help or options will be greatly appreciated. I have a big 4 wheeling trip in a couple weeks and need to make a decision on tied downs soon. Thanks for all the help

Based on my research, the weight for a 1976 CJ5 can vary between 3500 and 4000 lbs depending on whether it has a hard top and on its particular engine and transmission.
Based on this the Erickson Car Tie Down Kit, part # 08504-05, is a very good choice but is not by itself sufficient to secure the Jeep for trailer transport. This Erickson kit has a working load limit (WLL) of 3300 lbs, which is below the vehicle weight.
I suggest you use this kit in conjunction with wheel nets, such as the Erickson # EM58518.
