Can Lexus GX 460 Use Weight Distribution Hitch With Boat Trailer & How to Choose Correct System
Question:
Our GX 460 has a basic towing package but does not have height control. Is it possible to use a weight distribution system on the hitch when pulling a boat to compensate for the missing height control leveling?

I took a look at the owner's manual for your 2019 Lexus GX 460 and you can use a weight distribution hitch; it even mentions that towing 5,000 lbs or more requires one, and towing 2,000 lbs or more requires sway control. In order to choose the right weight distribution hitch you will first need to know your loaded tongue weight. The ideal system would be one in which your loaded tongue weight falls somewhere in the middle of the weight distribution system's tongue weight capacity.
For example, if your loaded tongue weight was 450 lbs, the best option would be from Fastway:
- Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600
This system is for loaded tongue weights between 250 lbs and 600 lbs and will both level you out and offer excellent sway control at a fantastic value relative to other hitches. Since you have a boat trailer, if it is a straight tongue you will also need an adapter:
- Pole-Tongue Adapter # EQ95-01-5950
I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out, as well as a link to our entire selectin of weight distribution hitches in case you have a different tongue weight.
