Using A Rack Swing Arim With A 2020 Mercedes Sprinter Van
Question:
I am looking for a Rack swing arm for my 2020 Mercedes 144 Sprinter Van so I can access the rear doors. We are using a Yakima Holdup +2 to carry 4 bikes. My concern is that most Swing Arms are extenders also. The rack already sticks out pretty far and i would prefer not to have it stick out any further.

The rack swing arm I recommend is the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender For Bike Racks, part # Y02483. Any extender will add extra length to your vehicle. Our options will all add about 14" onto your bike hitch rack configuration. I also prefer the Yakima Backswing because it weighs less than the other options. The Yakima BackSwing only weighs 35lbs. This extender will lock to your vehicle and it also has an anti-rattle hitch pin to eliminate movement between the rack and the hitch receiver.
Adding any adapter to your hitch receiver will also reduce the maximum tongue weight on your hitch receiver by 50%. The weight of your rack added to the weight of this extender come to 133lbs, that is 35lbs for the extender and 98lbs for your rack. Subtracting that total from your adjusted maximum tongue weight will give you the maximum total weight of bikes you can transport.
I have included a product description link below.
