I would be happy to recommend everything you will need to install the Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47294 in your 2008 Jeep Liberty, but your vehicle does not have a factory trailer brake controller port so you will need to hardwire the controller to the vehicle using universal wiring adapter # HM47685.

If your Jeep has a factory 7-way connector you will have a blue wire underneath the dash that goes to the brake output pin on the 7-way connector.

You will need the # 5506 to complete the install by making the following connections:

Black wire from controller extended to the positive terminal of battery with 20 amp circuit breaker if your trailer has 1-2 braking axles or included 30 amp circuit breaker if your trailer has 3-4 braking axles.
Blue wire from controller to blue wire under dash of Jeep
White wire from controller to ground
Red wire from controller to cold side of stop light switch that only has power when brake pedal is pressed.

Using circuit tester # PTW2993 will allow you to find the correct stop light switch wire.

If your Jeep does not have a factory 7-way you will need to add one starting with a 4-way connector # 118554 and the adding the # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 will connect to the 4-way connector and require you to run a wire to the battery of your Jeep with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, and extend the blue wire to the trailer brake controller.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
