Determining If ST185/80R13 Tire On Boat Trailer Can Be Replaced W/ ST205/75R15 Tires and Wheels

Question:

I have a 17foot bass tracker/trailer combo. The current wheels are stocks ST185/80R13C and I was wondering if I can bump up to a 15inch wheel/tire combo and still have enough clearance? Just dont want to run into any issues. Current tires are a 5 lug on 4.5inch with a 3 1/8inch center hole. If I can upgrade to a 15, what would you recommend that would fit? Thanks

It is possible that you will be able to replace the ST185/80R13C tires on your 17' Bass Tracker trailer with 15" tires, but that is a pretty large jump in size so you will need to verfiy the clearance you currently have.

The smallest 15" diameter trailer tire is the ST205/75R15 which is about 2-1/2" taller and 3/4" wider than your current tires.

You will need to measure from the top of your tires to the bottom of the fender to make sure you have at least 4-1/2" clearance, and from the inside edge of the tire to the frame of the trailer and make sure you have at least 1-1/2" clearance for these to fit and still allow full suspension travel.

If you find you have adequate clearance I recommend the Castle Rock ST205/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Lynx Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR C - Silver # LHACKSL301 due to it including the 15" tire you are wanting, and a 15" aluminum wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern you need. This would be a perfect wheel for a boat trailer due to aluminum being naturally corrosion resistant.

I included a video of the # LHACKSL301 for you to take a look at.
