Recommended Replacement for Too Highly Rated Weight Distribution System for Small Camper

Question:

Bought a 2013 Skyline Bobcat 183B. GVWR is 3875 with a hitch weight of 325. The travel trailer came with a Curt weight distribution hitch and bars rated at 10,000 with TW rate of 1, 000lbs. Obviously, that’s a bit much for my small TT. I’m thinking item #17300 would suffice for my setup. Additionally, I drive a 2005 Toyota Tundra 2WD, Auto, with a towing capacity of 5,000Lbs. Please advise. Thanks

The Curt # 17300 you'd referred to would be a great choice, it's maximum 600 lb tongue weight rating would be much more appropriate for the small camper you're towing. You might also consider a friction sway unit like part # 17200, which would help resist trailer sway from cross winds and turbulence caused by passing or oncoming traffic. Sway control can help make towing a much more pleasant experience. The necessary trailer ball is sold separately. For a 2 inch ball, use # A-90 or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.

I've linked to a product video for the weight distribution and the sway control kit.
