Can I use a Demco Supplemental Braking System for Vehiciles and a Brake Controller for Trailers?

Question:

I have a 2017 E450 motor home and will be towing a 2020 Jeep gladiator. The gladiator has the # SM99251 already installed and the motorhome does Not have a brake controller. If I understand the system A tow vehicle brake controller is not required for this system to operate. Is that true? And in addition, If I add a brake controller to the E450 for use with other trailers will it then interfere with the # SM99251 operation?

You will have no problem to adding a brake controller for trailers and still tow a vehicle with the Demco system.

The Demco # SM99251 unit uses inertia and brake light signals to cause braking to your (Jeep) towed vehicle.

Whereas the braking for a trailer uses an in-cab brake controller to send signal through the 12 volt brake power line to create braking in the towed trailer with electric brakes.

If you email me the specs for your trailer I can recommend a brake controller for your trailer.
