Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2010 Chevy Avalanche 1500

Question:

I have a 2010 Chevy Avalanche 1500 LT and will be pulling a 27foot Crossroads Zinger 270RL Travel Trailer with it. The TT has a weight of 8,000 lbs loaded. I want the best transmission cooler for the truck as I will be pulling it thru the mountains from time to time. Which cooler do you recommend?

When choosing a transmission cooler, the best practice is to go with the largest and most efficient cooler that will fit in the available space.

The ideal mounting location for a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the a/c condenser and radiator. If the available space will accommodate the 11 by 12 inch by 7/8 inch thick size of the # D13504 you mentioned, the # D13504 would be your best choice.

I would also recommend the # D13035 Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting. If you use the fitting, you will be able to avoid cutting and flaring any transmission lines.

I have linked you to some FAQ articles about transmission coolers as well as a video showing a cooler being installed on a 2005 Avalanche. The video shows a different cooler being installed, but the procedure for your truck should be similar. At the 1:30 mark of the video, you will see how the fitting is used.
