Recommended Leaf Spring Replacement for a 3,500 Pound Trailer

Question:

I have a fairly new 3500# single axle trailer. 25 1/4, 4 leaf, leaf springs. My normal total weight carried is right at 35001# counting the trailer weight. I broke a spring on my first trip with it last fall. Im going to replace both springs and was figuring on going with the 4000# spring. Would my trailer ride too rough and maybe bounce if I put the 5000# springs on it? Thanks

Though the etrailer 5,000 pound leaf springs # e28SR will have more capacity than your original leaf springs, they might be a bit overkill. The more heavy duty the spring is, the stiffer they will be, which may cause the trailer to bounce when you hit bumps. These will still fit and work, but I don't think the towing experience is going to be the best.

The better option will be to go with the 4,000 pound leaf spring # e57SR. These will still have more capacity than the originals, but will not stiffen them to the point of discomfort.
