Recommended Power Management Solution for Lithium Batteries on Truck Bed Camper

Question:

Im wanting to convert my truck camper from flooded batteries to lithium. I plan on swapping out the Converter in the Progressive Dynamics Power Control Center with PD4045LICSV, and my solar panel Charge Controller with the Go Power PWM part 34276119, as well as the batteries of course. What Im not sure about is the Blue Sea Systems ACR model 7611. Is there a model that works for lithium batteries, or should I skip the ACR and wire the batteries in parallel or do something different for charging both batteries? Separately, does the Solar Charge Controller noted above give an accurate state-of-charge percentage for lithium batteries or should I look at having a separate state-of-charge indicator? I heard lithium batteries indicate theyre fully charged until theyre near fully discharged, which is why I ask.

The Progressive Dynamics # PD4045LICSV is the correct part you're looking for to swap the converter in your power distribution box and you could use the GoPower # 34276119 as your solar controller, but I have a better solution for you. I'll add that I'm not familiar with the Blue Sea part that you've mentioned and since we don't offer those products I can't confirm whether the part you're seeking is available but we would typically recommend using some sort of isolator.

I recommend looking at the The Manager30 Battery Management System with Lithium Profile # RED88FR, which will give you the most accurate readings on your battery state and helps keep everything topped off with the use of your existing solar system. The Manager30 acts like 6 products in 1 - auxiliary battery charger, 110-volt charger, solar regulator, battery isolator, load disconnect controller, and remote battery monitor; so it's a great, catch all solution when you need to keep your lithium batteries maintained.

It's a premium upgrade for your truck bed camper, but with the investment that lithium batteries are, it's worth adding the Manager30 if you want to maximize the efficiency of your charging system and protect your batteries at the same time. I've also never heard of lithium batteries behaving in the manner that you've mentioned, and I do believe that higher quality systems provide much more accurate readings of the battery state. The GoPower controller would also provide an accurate assessment of your charge state.

I've linked a review video of the Manager30 for you to check out.
