Troubleshooting Trailer Connector On 2012 Nissan Pathfinder Not Powering Trailer Lights

Pathfinder 2012 bought used, looks like aftermarket brake controller 7 pin and 4 pin combo added. Now trailer lights do not work at all, not trailer as tried several trailers none work and they work on other vehicles. So here is my problem, Do I attempt to remove the harness and install a new one and if so do I need kit with relays?

Before replacing the wiring harness on your 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56225, I recommend checking that the relays are in place.

If the harness that was installed is indeed aftermarket there should be a relay harness behind the passenger side kick panel on your vehicle.

If you are missing the relays but have the harness, you will need the Curt Relay Kit for Nissan Aftermarket Tow Package # C57000.

If you do not find the relay harness you will need to install one, but it is not sold by itself. So, I recommend the # C56225 you were looking at which will give you an extra 4-way connector to keep should you need it in the future.
