Installing Derale Universal Transmission Cooler on a 2016 Ford Explorer
Question:
My 2016 Ford Explorer XLT 3.5L V6 has 1/2 inch hoses going to and from the OEM transmission cooler with the 1/2 inch barbs. How do you fit the 11/32 hose in the kit to the 1/2 inch fittings on the vehicle?

For installing the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets # D13502 on your 2016 Ford Explorer you will need to locate the cool side transmission line and mark for cutting. Be sure that the area that you will tap into this line is easily accessible and let the lines cool before cutting. You will leave the OEM connections in the radiator as there is not an adapter for your specific line set.
First go ahead and mount the cooler on the front of your radiator with the looped line as per the instructions. You will need a barbed adapter and 1/2" hose that you can source from a local auto parts store. Once you have the new lines ran into the area that you will be able to tap into the factory line be sure to get all the new lines cut and adapters installed so when you cut into the cold side line you will be able to slip on the new lines as quickly as possible to reduce the amount of fluid lost during the process.
Be sure to check your transmission fluid levels according to the instructions in the owners manual to ensure that the transmission will not become damaged.
