Replacement for 2004 Damon Daybreaker Carrier Air V 13500 btu

Question:

The unit fan and compressor start up and blows cool air for about 1 minute. The compressor shuts down and in about another minute restarts and blows cool air. The third time it shuts off and the green light blinks five times. I have gone through the reboot advice and the same happens. The question is as it blows cold air is it a thermostat issue or control board. The remote has been reset and is for just the AC. No heat strip. (Additional Information: Problem is with Carrier controls)

Try resetting the Carrier internal computer by disconnecting the 12 volt power source for a 1-1/2 minutes. This may clear the computer from what caused it to quit working correctly. Many users report that the AC will then work for some amount of time until the existing problem that caused the computer to say STOP happens again. With all power off, you can remove the rooftop shroud and ensure that parts are clean up there, especially the coils. Over heating due to dirty coils could be the cause.

It does not seem likely to be your indoor thermostat or remote, and the control board is probably only reacting to issues inside the air conditioner.

If you still have a problem then it is time for a professional to take a look at your AC checking capacitors, coolant, fans, coil, and thermister.

It would not take long for $150 per hour repair work to make a new air conditioner start looking good. You could swap your roof top only unit for an Advent # ACDOM135B which is a 13,500 BTU unit with a soft start capacitor, in black. You will additionally need the # ACCARKIT wiring adapter kit. Also review the attached technical bulliten.

If you prefer a white unit, or higher BTU rating, or additional heat strip - just email me back with these details.

The Atwood AT15025-21 air conditioner that you referenced is discontinueed.
