Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller on a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2012 ram 1500 and Im trying to install a brake controller but my truck only has the one plug under the dash. Whats the best way to install a brake controller? Thank you

Expert Reply:
If you have 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle you can simply plug a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3021-P in under your dash in the plug you found and you would be ready to install a Tekonsha brake controller like the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885.
If you have a 4-way at the rear of your vehicle you will also need a Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole # 37185. You will plug your 4-way into this adapter and then you would run a length of 10 gauge wire like our part # 10-1-1 from the output circuit of the 7-way to the output circuit of your brake controller.
If you do not have a 4-way you would need part # 119178KIT. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
