How to Lubricate Hitch Head of Equal-i-zer 1400 lb Weight Distribution/Sway Control System

Question:

How do I lubricate the hitch head sockets where the spring/torsion bars are mounted? I loosened the bolts holding the swivel heads in place but the fit is so tight even with loose bolts that I couldnt move the sockets/spring bar receptacles ny hand. Please advise.

The procedure for lubricating the hitch head is pretty simple. Place a pea-sized dollop of multi-purpose or bearing grease on the underside of the ball platform right next to the sockets. You'll also want to do the same thing on the under side of the sockets as close as possible to the platform the sockets sit on. This way, the grease gets worked into the mechanism when you make your first turn. I've provided a diagram I sourced from Equal-i-zer that shows these locations.

It's perfectly normal for those sockets not to be moveable by hand, especially when the system is new. Not only is the sway control provided by the contact between the spring bar and the bracket on the trailer frame, but the sockets that the bars install into in the hitch head will also provide resistance.
