Best Bike Rack That Allows Easy Loading For Aventon Pace 500 Step-Thru Electric Bike

Question:

I purchased a Aventon Pace 500 step through and have an appointment to install a 2inch hitch on my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. I am now looking for a bike rack that will tilt away and be easy for me to fold up, and also to get my bike onto it. The bike weighs about 47 pounds. So far- I think that the Yahima looks like a good match. I like that I could access my trunk and also the locking feature.I have been unable to pull the trigger. I only need one for 2 bikes max..but need to have it easy as I am a small woman. What is a good match for my needs?

The Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # Y02443 would work well for your Aventon Pace 500 electric step-thru bike. Since you don't have fenders or baskets, the ratcheting hooks can clamp around your wheels without any interference. The weight capacity is 60lbs per bike so you won't have an issue there. The only downside is that this bike rack does weigh about 49lbs which could be difficult to handle, so it may be a good idea to have an extra set of hands when installing or removing the carrier.

For a somewhat lighter bike rack, you could look into the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y36FR. Not only does this weight 39lbs which will be slightly easier to handle, it also comes with an integrated ramp which allows for easy loading or unloading of your electric bike. You will no longer have to lift your heavy bike on or off the carrier. The weight capacity is 66lbs per bike so it will work well for your Aventon Pace 500. It has the same tilt feature as the HoldUp, which allows the carrier to be tilted for access to the trunk without needing to remove the bikes. This does come with a cable lock to secure the bikes to the carrier. It also has an anti-rattle hitch pin to reduce wobble and vibration, but it does not lock the carrier to the hitch receiver. You could add Yakima HitchLock # Y07235 to lock the carrier to the receiver. I attached a few demonstration videos for you to check out.
