Is the Chevy Factory Brake Controller on a 2015 Chevy Silverado Compatible with Dexter DX Actuator

Question:

We recently picked up our 2021 Riverstone Legacy 42FSKG Toy Hauler. I’m towing with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Duramax Dually with factory electric brake controller. My camper came with a Dexter electric/hydraulic brake actuator already wired but when we left the dealership the trailer brakes weren’t working. After getting home I pulled the break-away to test the actuator and it worked. Can you please tell me what to do to have trailer brakes or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

The Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # K71-651 that you've got is compatible with the factory brake controller on your 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500, so I would start by checking the 7 way plug on your 3500 just to make sure that the brake controller output is working. This would also be a good time to make sure that the ground wire for the 7 way is properly connected to your vehicle. I would also make sure that the controller is set to the "Electric Over Hydraulic" mode, which could be causing the issues.

If you can let me know what you find or if the problems persist I can continue to assist you on this.
