Will the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Spring Fit a 2007 Ford Fusion AWD Without Rear Strut
Question:
Sirs, I see a note that says this unit will not fit on an AWD due to the strut being in the coil spring on the rear. I removed my wheel and saw a bumper stop in the spring but the shock is parallel to the coil spring outside of it. Could this metal and rubber stop be removed out of the spring for this air ride to be installed? I really see no value in the piece I am referring to as a bumper stop because it is very flimsy and has no real stop value to it... Thank you

We have found that some of the 2007 Ford Fusion AWD models have struts not only in the front, but in the rear as well. The Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs, # F4169, were designed to fit the models that only have the bump stops inside of the rear coil springs, not the struts.
We had a 2007 Ford Fusion on our lot, so I took a picture of the rear suspension with the bump stop in the coil spring. If your rear suspension looks like the photo that I have attached, then you can use the Coil-Rite springs on your vehicle.
To remove the existing bump stop, you will either need to pull downward at an angle or remove a bolt that is holding it in place.
