7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Honda Pilot

Question:

I need to add a 7 pin connector to my daughters 2015 Honda Pilot. There is a plugged connector at rear of car already. Looking at 118265 kit. What does the power module do? I thinking it acts as relays between the cars wiring harness and the added current draw for the trailer lights. Is this the correct kit. They will be towing a Jayco popup -w/o electric brakes. Thanks.

By 'powered module' I believe you're speaking of the black converter box included with the # 118265 kit, is that correct?

The converter box takes 3 taillight signals from the Pilot, the right turn, left turn and the brake lamps and combines those three circuits into 2 circuits for the trailer to use. Once circuit carries the right turn signal and the brake lamp circuit, the other carries the left turn signal and the brake light circuit. This is done because the pilot has separate turn signal bulbs while the majority of trailers combine the brake lamp and the turn signal on a single two filament bulb. The converter box will also offer circuit protection by helping to isolate the wiring system of the Pilot from any short circuits that can occur in the trailer wiring.

This # 118265 harness is a fit for a 2015 Honda Pilot and will be compatible with the described pop-up camper as long as it has a 7-way trailer connector.

If you click the provided links, you can see a product description video and the installation instructions for the # 118265 harness.
