Hi, I have a 2014 ford flex with a naked roof no factory roof rails Can you please tell me if the below products will fit my suv and if they would pair well together. Rhino rack roof rack Roof basket #1 choice C18115-117 Thank you,

A good roof rack option is a Rhino Rack system. This has part numbers # RRVA150B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK188. This is a low-profile roof rack with aero bars and a t-track mounting system. This also uses a fit kit with hooks custom-fit for your 2014 Ford Flex naked roof.

When roof rack clamps are custom fit for your naked roof, they usually have a set crossbar distance. The Rhino Rack Roof Rack fit kit # DK188 has instructions to be mounted 31-1/2" apart. That wont work with the Curt basket # C18115-117 since its clamps only work with specific crossbar spreads: between 22" and 50".

For a compatible carrier I recommend going with the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket # Y07070-74 as it will work perfectly with the above crossbar spread, and is very similar to the Curt basket you were wanting.

There's no reason why you can't shorten those U-bolts so they don't extend up into the basket. A hacksaw would work, but a rotary tool like a Dremel with a cut-off wheel would make a much cleaner cut and not mess up the threads. You can…
