Fifth Wheel Installation Kit Recommendation for a 2004 Chevy Silverado with a 5-1/2 ft Bed

I need to know the measurement to putting in the base rails in my 2004 cheverolet with a 5 1/2 foot bed. I have a reese brand fifth wheel and the base plates as well that i picked up on craigslist should they work think u

The only Reese fifth wheel installation kit we offer that is confirmed to fit your 2004 Chevy with a 5-1/2 ft bed would be the Reese Kit # RP50064-58. Hopefully that is the kit you have now. If you just have the rails but still need the brackets you would want a Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit # RP50064.
The front rail will be 47-1/2 inches back from the front rail of the truck bed. This is in the installation instructions I attached for this product also.
When you using a fifth wheel hitch in a truck bed this small it is recommended that you use a Sidewinder pin box to give you the clearance to make 90 degree turns. Check out the FAQ article I attached on Sidewinders.
