Parts Needed to Convert to Kodiak Disc Brakes on 5th Wheel With 7,000 lb Dexter Axles
Question:
I have a 2010 keystone 5th wheel trailer that I am interested in converting into disc brakes. The trailer has 2 7000 lb e-z-lube axles. I get lost on your website trying to find the correct Kodiak brake kits. Do you have any suggestions?

We can definitely get you the right Kodiak disc brake kit for your trailer with 7,000 lb Dexter E-Z Lube axles. Converting to disc brakes is a great idea because they have better stopping power than electric drum brakes, while also requiring less maintenance. So for your tandem axle 5th wheel, what you will need are two of the following kits:
- Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 7,000 lb Dexter Axle # K2HR758D
The brake kit comes with the correct races, but you will also need a quantity of 2 of the Grease Seals 10-36 (pair) # RG06-070, as well as a quantity of 4 of the Hub Bearing # 25580 and # 02475.
Since you are converting to disc brakes, you will also need a couple of other things, a brake line kit and an electric-over-hydraulic actuator, with the correct parts being the following:
- HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle - 25' # HS496-252
- HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HS381-8067
Overall, the combination of these parts is going to give your 5th wheel trailer the absolute best braking system available which will reduce the stress on your trailer frame and truck, as well as give you the safest possible towing experience.
