Is There a Bearing Buddy for a Hub Bore with 2.25 Inch Diameter

Question:

Hello...this cap looks to be what is on my boat trailer. Seems to measure 2.25. Replacement Grease Cap for Kodiak 8,000-lb Disc Brake Kits Item # KPCAP Is there a threaded bearing buddy available to fit this same hub? If so, please provide the link. Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:

If your hub bore is 2.25" in diameter like the # KPCAP then the closest Bearing Buddy Grease Caps would be the # BB2240, which measure 2.24", but this is commonly found to be compatible with Dexter 5200-lbs axles with an outer race 1729 in the hubs. I'm not quite sure this is what you're looking for so you'd want to measure your hub bore using a digital calipers like the # PTW80157 to make sure that you're getting the right ones. Those # BB2240 are push in Bearing Buddies so you'd also want to make sure you don't have a threaded bore- which would likely be the case if you've got an oil bath hub.

If you are certain you've got a 2.25" hub bore and it's threaded, you're not going to be able to make those Bearing Buddies work, but let me know what you find and I can see if we can come up with an alternate solution to let you switch to greased hubs instead of an oil bath.
