Which Trailer Hitch Receiver Will Not Require Fascia Bumper Trimming For My 2020 Honda CR-V?
Question:
I like the reviews and videos you provide on the different hitches you provide. We just got a 2020 Honda CRV. We have a couple bikes and a cargo basket. I want to install a class 3 hitch to hold the basket and a bike rack. do you have a install video for you etrailer hitch? I see it will require some trimming. Im not opposed to trimming, just like to see what Id be trimming. I see the drawtite wont require any. Will definitely be purchasing from you guys, just trying to decide between the two. thanks.

The Etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98848 does not have an installation video available at this time, although I did attach an installation video for a similar hitch that has essentially the same installation process. The Etrailer hitch receiver has a max towing capacity if 3,500lbs and max tongue weight of 525lbs. It does require trimming of the lower fascia trim in order to give a sleek look where only the 2" receiver is showing at the back of your 2020 Honda CR-V. This is done by cutting a 3"x3" section out of the plastic trim by using a utility knife or similar tool. I have attached a section of the included instructions to further explain the trimming process.
While the Etrailer hitch receiver mentioned above will work well for you, I recommend going with Draw-Tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76128 because it has a higher weight capacity at 4,500lbs and tongue weight of 675lbs. Also, as you mentioned, this receiver does not require any trimming. I have attached a detailed installation video for this Draw-Tite # 76128.
For an affordable 2-bike carrier you could use Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack # S63360 if you do not already have a bike rack. This can carry 2 bikes weighing up to 35lbs each and will fit 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. While this bike rack typically works with many different bike frame designs, if you plan on transporting women's, children's or full-suspension bikes then you will want to use Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar # S57FR. This will ensure your bikes are safely secured to the carrier no matter the frame design. I have attached a demonstration video for this bike rack.
