Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for 11,300 GCWR Trailer

Question:

Been looking at your Trailer Hitches with Load levelers and sway bars. The Curt # C17063 or the Curt #C17062 has my interest. Dont know my Tongue wt. but the trailer is 11300 CCC GVWR the UVW 8155. Will either of these hitches work for me?

The correct system for your needs will depend on the trailer's tongue weight when it's fully loaded and ready to tow. The weight of anything stowed behind the rear axle in the truck bed should also be considered tongue weight. I'll link you to an article showing a few ways to find the trailer's tongue weight, but the easiest way would be to use a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044.

Now for the Curt weight distribution hitches you looked at. The # C17063 is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 1000-1400 lbs, the # C17062 is meant for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 800-1000 lbs. Either of these could conceivably work for you, it'll depend on where your trailer tongue weight falls.

If you're needing the system for a travel trailer, I'd recommend using a system with a better sway control component, like the Curt TruTrack, because Travel trailers are very susceptible to trailer sway caused by crosswinds or turbulence from passing or oncoming traffic. For tongue weights from 1000-1500 lbs, use part # C17501 and for tongue weights from 800-1000 lbs, use # C17500. You'll be towing a pretty heavy trailer with a 1/2 ton truck, so it's crucial to have a well-preforming sway control setup.

I've linked to some product videos for the products mentioned above.
